Schools

Merrill Creek Reservoir (MCR) can be used for wide variety of environmental education opportunities for all age groups ranging from 1st grade through adults. Schools, homeschool groups, and other educational organizations are encouraged to utilize the MCR property and Visitor Center for hands-on, interdisciplinary activities, as well as educational field trips. Educators are encouraged to integrate the correlation between classroom learning and outdoor experiences in all aspects of their curriculum.

In keeping with the Merrill Creek Reservoir educational philosophy, all educators are strongly encouraged to take an active role in preparing, conducting, and following-up of all activities. Depending on availability, a MCR Naturalist may be available to assist in aspects of an environmental education program.

Please note that although the MCR Visitor Center is open Wednesday through Sunday, school group activities/field trips are booked only on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  Additionally, there is no food or drink allowed in the Visitor Center.   There is also no cost to utilize the grounds for educational activities.

MCR requires an Educational Program Waiver to be signed by both teachers and students that are participating in or holding, an educational class or field trip.  These waivers must be signed and returned to MCR prior to the date scheduled for the class or field trip.  Please contact the Merrill Creek Reservoir Visitors Center for more information.

Depending on availability, organized non-profit groups are also welcome to book a date for meetings/environmental education.
